The Permanent Collections


The department houses thousands of rare and important prints, drawings, portfolios, and posters that illustrate historical and cultural aspects of Jewish life in Europe, Israel, and the United States during the past 200 yars. Artists include Marc Chagall, Hermann Struck, Chana Orloff, Louis Lozowick, and numerous others, contemporary and traditional.

Rabbi, (1890) Jozef Israels. The rich, painterly qualities of Israel's art are evidenced in this watercolor. His work depicting Jewish subjects remains an important record of nineteenth century Jewish life in Holland.
